Road closures on Monday in connection with activities of the Office of Governor of Sint Maarten
Several roads in the Philipsburg area will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2022.
Front Street, the Wilhelminastraat in front of the House of Parliament, Gevangenisstraat and parts of Back Street will be closed on Monday, from 6.30 AM to 2.00 PM.

The closure is in connection with activities surrounding the acceptance of the Office of Governor of Sint Maarten by mr. Ajamu G. Baly which are scheduled to take place at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, at the House of Parliament and in front of the Courthouse.
The public is advised not to move or temporarily relocate any barricades placed by the Police Force or the Ministry of VROMI.

Festival Village vandalism On Saturday The 20th Of August
The Sint Maarten Police Force had a reasonably busy weekend with several Criminal cases and traffic accidents.
• On Saturday morning, August 20, 2022, at approximately 06.00 Central Dispatch received a call of a serious accident that happened on the airport road and in which two persons had been injured.
The driver of the Grey Hyundai sustained injuries to her arms and legs while the passenger of the Blue Tucson suffered a broken wrist as a result of the accident.
Both the victims were administered first aid by the ambulance personnel before being transferred to the SMMC.

UPDATED – Simpson Bay Shooting. One Person Dead
UPDATE One man is dead after he was shot in his torso by an unknown shooter on Sister Modesta Road Wednesday afternoon, the police in an update said on Wednesday evening.
Around 2:20pm, Police Central Control Room received multiple reports of a shooting that had occurred in Simpson Bay. Several patrols and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. At the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Police was informed that the victim had passed away shortly after from his wound.
The reason for the shooting is not yet clear. Suspect(s) are not yet known.
Patrol officers searched the neighborhood for the alleged suspects, but the search was unsuccessful.

Driver lands in Fresh Pond
Several Arrested the past weeks possessing stolen vehicles 2022
A driver lost control of his vehicle ended up in the Fresh Pond near Prins Bernhard Bridge in the early morning of Wednesday, August 17, 2022. He sustained minor injuries from the incident.
Police Central Dispatch received a call around 3:00am about the crashed vehicle in the pond in the vicinity of Fort Willem Road and the bridge. Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was heading to the traffic lights across the bridge from Bush Road when he lost control and ended up in the pond.
The vehicle was pulled out of the pond and removed from the scene.

Driver flees scene after causing accident
Police are seeking a man who fled the scene of a traffic accident he caused at the junction of Sucker Garden Road and Middle Region Road at approximately 8:30am today, Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Police hailed the driver of a white pickup to stop based on road tax requirements after he was spotted with an old French license plate on Oyster Pond Road heading towards Philipsburg.
Instead of stopping the driver chose not to stop and accelerated down a side street that connects to Middle Region Road. A few minutes later, police in pursuit observed the pick-up driver overtaking some about five cars on Middle Region Road in his attempt to evade them.

Police Academy students of Class BPO 5 visited the House of Detention (prison) in Point Blanche on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. This visit was a very educational experience for students to see and experience operations of the prison and the routine of inmates.
Prison Inspector Steven Carty explained to the police-in-training about the resocialization of inmates and programs offers to achieve this goal; included is not only work activities, but educational and training courses.

Airport Terminal Building Evacuation. Operations back to normal
The Operations Department of the Princess Juliana International Airport Operating Company (PJIAE N.V.) was alerted about the emergency fire alarm, which was triggered on code red at the terminal building on August 3, 2022, at approximately 12:52PM.
According to the Deputy Fire Chief, Mr. Gerald Baptiste, smoke derived from a food and beverage concession in the vicinity of the Departure Hall. The smoke triggered the alarm system, and the terminal building was immediately evacuated to the designated assembly points on the airside and landside.
At approximately 1:18PM, the fire alarm panel was reset after the smoke cleared and the Rescue and Firefighting department downgraded the emergency to a code green, as it was stabilized.

The Traffic Department of the Sint Maarten Police Force KPSM is investigating a traffic incident that claimed the life of J.R.C (64). The man died due to injuries sustained after being struck by a motor vehicle on Welfare road at the junction with Barringtonia Drive in Cole Bay on Sunday, July 31.
Police Central Dispatch received various calls on Sunday around 7:00pm about an accident involving a pedestrian who was struck by a white jeep Wrangler and was in a critical condition. At the scene, the patrol found the man with injuries to his head. First aid was administrated by ambulance personnel and the man was rushed to the hospital, He later passed away from this injuries he received.
