As St Maarteners come to term with the death of popular local businessman Anan, another man receives several gunshot wounds to the abdomen- STORY
FRENCH QUARTER, St Martin – Members of the Arab community on St. Maarten are enraged about the senseless killing of Anan Daraghma on Wednesday evening in French Quarter.
The Shwarma business man was gunned down by robbers at around 11:30 Wednesday night.
According to sources, the robbers jumped behind the counter of the Shwarma business in a bid to take the business man‘s hard earned money.
He was shot dead as he tried to defend him self from the attack.
The Arab community came out to the crime scene in numbers and launched a man hut for the remaining robber.
It is also said that they informed the Gendarmes who were present that they will find the robber and carry out their own justice.
The murder of Anan Daraghma has shocked not only the Arab community on St. Maarten/St. Martin but also the local community as he was loved for his overall attitude towards everyone.
Anan Daraghma worked at a number of business on Dutch St. Maarten including running a Shwarma business in St. Peters.
There are also reports that the deceased had problems earlier in the day with the two robbers who promised to come back for him later.
Our source also stated that they came back and shot him three times with one of the bullets piercing his heart.
One of the bullets ricochet and struck him in the leg.
It is still not clear if the victim shot or stabbed one of the robbers in an attempt to defend himself as no official report has been issued on this incident.
What we have learnt is that one of the injured robbers was flown to Guadeloupe Thursday out of fears of retaliation from the family of the deceased business man.
A hunt is now on for the other robber who is well known as the murder of Anan was caught on video tape.

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – Police Spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson confirmed reports that a shooting took place in Cole Bay Thursday night. The shooting took place at around ten (9:50pm) on the Welfare Road, in the vicinity of the entrance to Cay Bay.
Police and ambulance personnel were observed at the scene of the shooting including the forensic department of the St. Maarten Police Force. Henson also confirmed that two men had an argument, which at a given moment got out of hand and one of them pulled a gun. He shot the other man several times in the abdomen after which he left the crime scene.
The victim was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) where he is currently being treated for his injuries. The cause of the argument is not yet known however the case is being investigated by the Detective Department of the St. Maarten Police Force.
